I recently found this new type of paint from folk art paint provider that has a terra-cotta finish and I love the way it works on paper as a interesting surface to then use watercolor or colored pencil… This is watercolor on the surface and it’s so so interesting how the watercolor moves around and bleeds in a way that’s different than regular paper

To follow what @chris was saying about projects for fun, I’ve been challenging myself finding new projects so I started on my Coloring Calendar! This image is for rainy APRIL. I needed new compositions to challenge myself, using new tools on new paper. I’ve been using the unbeatable Pentel coloring pencils on Maruman paper.
I’ve tried other ‘erasable’ pencils and they’re a bold faced lie. The Pentel ones are the real deal and the paper holds up better than my Canson classics. I need a whole box of the red ones now 😂 Next up is JUNE: Camp!!

Mixed media art is interesting because it gives artists the freedom to combine different materials, textures, and techniques in a single piece. Paint, paper, fabric, ink, photography, and found objects can all work together to create something with more depth and character.
What makes mixed media especially enjoyable is that there are very few fixed rules. Artists can experiment with layering, contrast, texture, and unexpected combinations until the piece starts to take shape.
