Sketching & Illustration

I’m a comic artist, writer and illustrator! I keep a sketchbook where I do plein air painting and urban sketching whenever I travel, and I use Pentel energel pens almost exclusively for sketching :D Here’s a few that I drew on a recent trip to Korea!

I'm a fulltime freelance illustrator currently living in Los Angeles, but originally from New Jersey (and before that, China). Most of my work is for the entertainment industry in LA and involves official posters, illustrations, and concept art for films, video games, bands, comics, editorial and the like. I started freelancing for Pentel last year after my friend Chris Koehler introduced me to them - this weekend was my second year doing demos/chatting with folks at their Lightbox Expo booth.

I've also been meaning to post more work on here - I've always loved that this community is super lowkey and that you can involve yourself with all these different types of groups and choose which ones to join. It's super nice to meet you!

WIP-Just two sketches for a class assignment where i make 5 cards for a set. Its going to be like a MTG Secret Layer kind of.

Hey all! This is Owen Freeman, longtime Pentel sketching and illustration enthusiast :)

I curated the Digital Integration Pro Kit and wanted to let everyone know I'll be doing a free online workshop with sketching and illustration legend Chris Koehler in two weeks (Tuesday August 4th at 12PM PT)

If you have any questions or subjects you're interested in hearing about please let me know. Hope to see you all there!

Hello everyone! Cheers to a new week from your friendly neighborhood creative moderator, haha. What are you up to creatively this week? I would love to see your works in progress or completed pieces!

Here’s a piece I did not too long ago (using Procreate) of my cat character (who’s basically me) and now she feels about working, haha. She just wants to draw, not answer work emails. :P

Got commissioned to do a little story illustration of a musical crocodile and my little gnome character. Done in watercolor and ink.

Hey all! If you attended my workshop on the Creator Collective, you saw me start this piece. Well, I finally finished it after lots of slacking! I hope you dig it. More coming soon...

Just working on a class assignment. I will be inking in a moment once i clean up the sketch lines a bit more. Its a prequel to a piece of two monsters I came up with are in an endless battle.
