Hello

I'm Marissa, one of the moderators here and I'm excited to be part of this creative community!

I have been drawing and painting for many years. In recent years though I discovered watercolor and it quickly became one of my favorite mediums.

I enjoy painting florals, animals, spooky-cute things like bats and ghosts, really anything nature related and whimsy. I do draw the occasional portrait too. I've attached a few of my watercolor pieces so you can get to know my style a little better.

Whether you are just starting your watercolor journey or you've been painting for years, I hope this becomes a space where we can encourage one another, learn new tips, techniques, share our work and enjoy the creative process together.

I would love to get to know you too!

What is your favorite thing to paint or something you paint frequently? (I love painting florals, they…

October Art Challenge Prep

I am excited this year for the October art challenge. I have previously either made my own prompt list or cherry picked from various lists based on my mood and inspiration, but this year I think I am going to follow the official inktober prompt list. It has a lot of really good prompts on it. But in the meantime, I am testing out various supplies I may want to use. I think I will end up using my Pentel brush pen for the overall line work and the pointliners for the finer details.

Anyone else thinking about joining an October art challenge this year? If so, which one?

Sign Pen Brush: Birds Edition 🐦

I recently received a packet of Sign Pen Brushes from one of the weekly Pentel Challenge prizes and decided to give them a try! So far, I’ve been having a blast using them for still-life illustrations. 🎨

I have a few of those sign pens but I don’t think I’ve ever used them for anything outside of signing and line work. I love how you utilized them though for doing still-life’s. Those birds look really awesome!

Managing Crew Dispatch, Equipment Logistics, and Jobsite Notes for Multi-Day Removals

Hey crew! Following up on Mark's point about estimates, I wanted to see how everyone handles the logistics side once a massive multi-day removal or hazardous crane job actually gets booked. When you're coordinating bucket trucks, chippers, and extra ground hands across different sites, miscommunications can waste hours. How well do mobile dispatching tools handle sharing access notes, hazard warnings, and gear requirements with the crew before they roll out to a site?

For larger tree removal projects, I think clear communication before the crew arrives is just as important as creating an accurate estimate. Sharing access details, hazard warnings, equipment requirements, and job notes in one place could prevent a lot of confusion. Mobile dispatching also seems useful when crews are moving between multiple locations during the same day. I’ve been looking at tofu for this type of workflow. Having everyone see updated information from their phones could reduce unnecessary calls and messages. For complex crane or multi-day jobs, keeping dispatchers and field crews on the same page seems especially valuable. It could save time and make scheduling much smoother.
